Mr Ian Middlemas
Non-Executive Chairman
Qualifications – B.Com, CA

Mr Middlemas is a Chartered Accountant, a member of the Securities Institute of Australia and holds a Bachelor of Commerce degree.  He worked for a large international Chartered Accounting firm before joining the Normandy Mining Group where he was a senior group executive for approximately 10 years.  He has had extensive corporate and management expertise, and is currently a director with a number of publicly listed companies in the resources sector. Mr Middlemas was appointed a Director of the Company on 30 September 2005.

Mr Peter Breese
Chief Executive Officer
Qualifications – PMD Harvard Business School

Mr Breese has 25 years of operational, project management and strategic management experience in the mining industry. Prior to joining Mantra, Mr Breese was Chief Executive of Norilsk Nickel International, following the acquisition of LionOre Mining International by Norilsk Nickel in 2007. In this role Mr Breese was responsible for the strategic development and operational viability for all group operations outside of Russia for Norilsk Nickel, which included operations in Africa, Australia and Europe. At LionOre Mining, he was Chief Operating Officer, responsible for all group operations in Africa and Australia.

In addition to the positions listed above, Mr Breese has also held senior executive positions at Impala Platinum, Mimosa Mining Company and Zimasco in Zimbabwe. He has served on the Boards of a number of Zimbabwean, South African, Botswanan and Australian mining companies. Mr Breese is resident in South Africa. Mr Breese was appointed a Director of the Company on 25 January 2010.

Mr Robert Behets 
Executive Director
Qualifications – B.Sc (Hons), FAusIMM, MAIG

Mr Behets is a geologist with over 20 years experience in the mineral exploration and mining industry in Australia and internationally.  From 1988 to 2005, he worked for WMC Resources Limited where he held various senior management positions, including Manager Geology - Kambalda Nickel Operations, Manager Commercial - St Ives Gold Operations, Manager Geology - Pinares Nickel Project (Cuba), Exploration Manager - Brazil and Group Manager Exploration.  Mr Behets has a strong combination of technical, commercial and managerial skills and extensive experience in regional and mine-site exploration, mineral resource and ore reserve estimation, feasibility studies and mine geology for nickel sulphide, nickel laterite, gold and copper-gold-uranium deposits.

Mr Behets is a Fellow of The Australasian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy and a Member of the Australian Institute of Geoscientists.  He is also a current member of the Australasian Joint Ore Reserve Committee (JORC).  Mr Behets was appointed a Director of the Company on 7 November 2005.

Mr Colin Steyn
Non Executive Director
Qualifications – B.Com, MBA

Mr Steyn has over 30 years experience in the resources sector with particular expertise in the development of mining operations in southern Africa.  Mr Steyn was previously President and CEO of LionOre Mining International from 1999 to 2007. He was one of the original founders of LionOre and was instrumental in the growth and development of LionOre into a major international mining house. During his time as CEO, LionOre grew from a market capitalisation of US$100 million to over US$6 billion.

From 1996 to 2000, he was a director of Centachrome, a worldwide metals marketing organisation.  For five years prior to 1996, Mr Steyn was Executive Director in charge of Metallurgical Operations in Zimbabwe for Rio Tinto; where he started his career in 1979.  Mr Steyn was appointed as a non-executive Director of the Company on 19 March 2008.

Mr William (Bill) Smart
Alternate Director for Colin Steyn 
Qualifications – B.Com, Hons

Mr Smart has over 40 years experience in the mining industry, including 26 years working for the Anglo American Group in Zimbabwe. Most recently, he was Vice President, Corporate Planning of LionOre, until it was acquired by Norilsk Nickel in 2007, the world’s largest nickel company. Prior to joining LionOre, Mr Smart held a number of senior executive positions in the industry, including Managing Director of Bindura Nickel and Zimbabwe Alloys, and CEO of both Zimasco and Mimosa Mining Company. 

Mr Ted Mayers
Independent Non-Executive Director
Qualifications - B.Sc, MBA, CA

With over 25 years experience, Mr Mayers has previously held a number of senior financial positions with publicly listed mining companies, most recently as Chief Financial Officer of Lundin Mining Corporation. Mr Mayers is based in Tornoto and is a Chartered Accountant.

Mr Luke Watson        
Chief Financial Officer & Company Secretary
Qualifications – B.Bus, CA, ACIS

Mr Watson is a Chartered Accountant, an Associate Member of Chartered Secretaries Australia, and holds a Bachelor of Business degree.  He commenced his career with a large international Chartered Accounting firm prior to joining OmegaCorp Limited in November 2005 as Company Secretary, a role he held through to September 2007.  Mr Watson was also the Company Secretary of Mantra Resources Limited from May 2006 – April 2007.  Most recently, Mr Watson was Company Secretary of Mavuzi Resources Limited up until the merger with Mantra.  Mr Watson was reappointed Company Secretary of the Company on 11 March 2008.

Mr Tony Devlin        
Country Manager - Tanzania
Qualifications – B.Sc (Hons)

Mr Devlin has over 25 years of multi-disciplinary experience in the mining industry in Southern and Eastern Africa. Prior to joining Mantra in September 2008, Mr Devlin was Managing Director of Williamson Diamonds Limited, Tanzania’s flagship diamond producer, and a partnership between the Government of the United Republic of Tanzania and De Beers.

From 1981 to 2005 Mr Devlin worked for and was a Director of Anglo American plc in Zimbabwe and from 1999 to 2005 CEO of Zimbabwe Alloys Limited, that Country’s second largest Ferro Alloy producer. He has served on the Boards of a number of Zimbabwean mining and manufacturing companies and has significant operational and support function experience. Mr Devlin is resident in Tanzania.

Mr Russell Bradford
General Manager - Project Development
Qualifications – B.Sc Met

Mr Bradford is a qualified Metallurgist with over 20 years experience in both operational and project management roles in Africa and Australia. From 1986 to 1995, he worked for Anglo American in their Gold Division based at the ERGO gold and uranium reclamation works in Johannesburg. Mr Bradford then moved to Bamangwato Concessions Limited (BCL Ltd) in Botswana, a large scale nickel copper complex where he worked until 2005, managing both the concentrator and smelter before becoming General Manager Operations.

In 2006 Mr Bradford transferred to Perth where he held the senior management positions of General Manager Projects and then General Manager Operations for LionOre Mining International’s nickel mines in Australia. He joined Mantra in October 2008 and took the Mkuju River Project through the Scoping Study phase as Project Manager. Mr Bradford was appointed as General Manager – Project Development in July 2009. 

Mr Wayne Drier
Commercial Executive
Qualifications – B.Bus.Sc (Hons)

Mr Drier has over 14 years experience in business development, commercial and corporate finance roles within major mining companies and investment banks. Prior to joining Mantra, Mr Drier was Vice-President for Strategy and Business Development at Norilsk Nickel International.

Mr Drier began his career with the gold division of Minorco S.A. (now part of Anglo American plc) before joining the Mining M&A team of Donaldson, Lufkin and Jenrette, a leading US Investment Bank. From 1999 until 2003 he advised various clients throughout the resource space on numerous transactions both for DLJ and Macquarie Bank. From 2003 to 2007 he worked for BHP Billiton in various roles within their Business Development and Marketing groups before leaving as Vice-President: Commercial for the Energy Coal operations in Southern Africa. He went on to join Shanduka Resources, a leading South African Empowerment company before joining Norilsk Nickel International in 2008. He has served on the Boards of various companies whilst at BHP Billiton, Shanduka and Norilsk.
